Preparing For Your Event: Tips and Reminders
- Invite
your friends, family and neighbors to come by your studio. A key to
building a following is to begin with your personal
community.
- Make
sure to get the contact information of visitors. Have a guest book, or
two in strategic places. Or conduct a raffle, be creative- be sure to
build your mailing list! Use the Official Pro Arts Sign-In Sheet and be eligible for $100 in art supplies.
- Have artwork, prints,
or gift cards if appropriate for sale. Souvenir items (priced under
$20) such as postcards, bookmarks, magnets, etc. allow visitors who may
not be able to afford higher priced artwork a chance to buy from you.
- Consider the risk of theft or damage of your artwork when showing your work in public, even in your studio. Small work, such as small
sculpture, ceramics, or jewelry may be more vulnerable. Please assess
the risk of your work and take appropriate precautions.
- Plan to follow-up with any buyers to encourage further sales.
- Don't be discouraged if sales or attendance is slow! You never know what might one day turn into that big sale.
